Berlin Film Festival 2005 - Official Competition Film Line-Up
February 5th, 2005 by Andre Soares

The focus in the official competition of this year’s Berlin Film Festival is unabashedly Eurocentric. The only country from the Americas represented is the United States. South Africa, the only African country listed, has two films in competition, but one of these is a co-production with European countries.
Motion pictures from South and West Asia are nowhere to be found (though the French-Dutch co-production Paradise Now is set in Palestine), and the Australian cinema is also absent from the official list.
