Tom Hanks, who fell under the spell of 2001: A Space Odyssey way back when, introduced the 40th Anniversary screening of Stanley Kubrick's science-fiction masterpiece this past Friday, April 25.
Others in attendance at the event, held at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, were the film's two stars, Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood, and visual effects veteran Douglas Trumbull, who has been nominated for three Oscars (for Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Star Trek, and Blade Runner).

What was the name of Gary Lockwoods high school track coach?
The event looks like a 2001 fan's dream. Wish I could have attended. I have a replica facsimile of Lockwood's spacesuit that I'd love for him and the others to have seen. Thanks for sharing.
Great photos! Keir Dullea looks great. He was a hottie. Still is.
