Amy Adams MISS PETTIGREW Interview

Amy Adams in Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

Howard Gensler of the Philadelphia Daily News asks Amy Adams a few questions about Bharat Nalluri’s (reportedly screwball) comedy Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, in which Adams co-stars with Frances McDormand.

David Magee (whose previous screenplay was Finding Neverland) and Simon Beaufoy (best known for penning The Full Monty) adapted Winifred Watson’s novel about a middle-aged London governess’ association with an American actress. Also in the cast: Ciarán Hinds, Tom Payne, and Shirley Henderson.

Here’s brief excerpt:

Gensler: "Carole Lombard is referenced in Miss Pettigrew but were you more influenced by Myrna Loy or Irene Dunne?"

Adams: "I was influenced by that whole genre. I watched a ton of films in preparation and was influenced by several actresses of that time. I tried to not do a direct imitation of anyone in particular, but they were always on my mind."
