Obit: Actress Beverly Tyler, 78, a leading lady in mostly B-films of the 1940s and 1950s, died of a pulmonary embolism in Reno, Nev., on Nov. 23. Tyler landed an MGM contract in the mid-1940s, but the studio relegated her to supporting and decorative leading-lady parts. Her best known films are The Green Years (1946), starring Charles Coburn and Tom Drake; The Beginning or the End (1947), a melodrama about the first A-bomb, with Drake, Robert Walker, and Brian Donlevy; and The Fireball (1950), with Mickey Rooney. In the mid-1950s, Tyler also appeared in the TV series Big Town.
