Brittany Murphy, best know for her roles in Clueless and the Eminem vehicle 8 Mile, and for providing the voice of Luanne Platter in the hit TV series King of the Hill, died Sunday morning at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She was 32. According to various reports, the cause of death was cardiac arrest.

Murphy (born in Atlanta on Nov. 10, 1977) began her show business career playing supporting roles on television series such as the Candice Bergen hit Murphy Brown, Almost Home, and Frasier.

In addition to Clueless and 8 Mile, Murphy's big-screen movies include Girl, Interrupted (1999), starring Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie; the romantic comedy Just Married (2003), co-starring Ashton Kutcher, whom she dated for a while; Karen Moncrieff's The Dead Girl (2006), in which Murphy was part of an ensemble that included Toni Collette, James Franco, and Piper Laurie; and Alex Merkin's thriller Across the Hall, with Mike Vogel.

Murphy also provided the voice of Gloria the penguin in George Miller's 2006 Oscar-winning animated feature Happy Feet.

Among her upcoming screen appearances are those in Sylvester Stallone's action-adventure drama The Expendables; Darin Scott's Something Wicked, with James Patrick Stuart; and Michael Feifer's thriller Abandoned, opposite Dean Cain.

Announced projects such as Shrinking Charlotte, in which Murphy was to have played the title role, will now have to be recast.

Brittany Murphy was married to British screenwriter Simon Monjack, who was credited with the story of the Sienna Miller vehicle Factory Girl.
