Loving Old Movies and Buster Who?
by Andre Soares
"This is a question I hear quite often: ‘Why do you spend all your vacation days sitting in theatres watching old movies?’ Here’s another one: ‘Buster who?’"
That’s from the Graceann Maciolek article "A Note from One of Those ‘Wonderful People Out There in the Dark,’" in which she talks about her love of old movies and her passion for Buster Keaton.
Disclaimer: Grace is a friend. We may not share a passion for Keaton (I’m not a fan of silent film comedians), for the 1921 Richard Barthelmess vehicle Tol’able David (which she loves; I don’t), or for It’s a Wonderful Life (which she also loves; the less I say about that Capra bucketful of syrup the better. . .), but we do share a passion for old movies (including David Lean’s Brief Encounter) and for animals, whether old or new.
