Max von Sydow Needs to Pay Bills, Too
August 15th, 2007 by Andre Soares
Via the IFC Blog - Max von Sydow in Rush Hour 3??:
Liam Lacey, Globe and Mail: "The final nasty European is Reynard (Max von Sydow), the head of the World Court. A week after the death of Ingmar Bergman, it’s disconcerting to see one of the Swedish director’s favourite actors as a generic Euro-villain in a slapstick American shoot-’em-up."
Sean P. Means, Salt Lake City Tribune: "(There’s no truth to the story that Von Sydow invited his old mentor Ingmar Bergman to the premiere, but Bergman took the easy way out.)"
There are a few other outraged quotes — all well worth a look — at the IFC Blog.
But then again, haven’t those reviewers watched — or at least heard of — Never Say Never Again, Victory, Hurricane, Exorcist II: The Heretic, not to mention Conan the Barbarian?
Max von Sydow had roles in all of the above, and in Flash Gordon, too. (The movie sucks, but von Sydow is high-campily great in it.)
