My Dad Is 100 Years Old on the Sundance Channel

On the Sundance Channel: In Guy Maddin’s short film My Dad Is 100 Years Old (2005), Isabella Rossellini pays "a unique personal tribute to her father, director Roberto Rossellini, in observance of the centenary of his birth. Far from a conventional documentary tribute, this is a stylized, witty meditation on Roberto Rossellini’s cinematic aesthetic and his belief in cinema as a moral art."
Isabella plays nearly every role in the film, including that of her mother, Ingrid Bergman. Rossellini Sr. is represented by an oversized belly.
Apparently, My Dad is a must-see.
Sundance will also screen Rossellini’s most famous work, the landmark 1945 war drama Roma, città aperta / Open City, starring Aldo Fabrizi and Anna Magnani. Shot on a tight budget while the Nazis were departing Rome, this neo-realist film suffers from some dated directorial choices and creaky editing. Yet, certain scenes carry tremendous power, and both Fabrizi and Magnani are outstanding.
