The questions below were initially posted to the Alternative Film Guide in Jan. 2005. Since the original post is now gone, here they are again…
Note: This quiz is not endorsed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, or by any other Academy or Institution for that matter.
Question No. 1: Which film director has coaxed — whether with tender care, merciless whipping, or death threats — the largest number of Academy Award-nominated performances?
Question No. 2: Which performer has/had the longest hiatus between acting nominations?
Question No. 3: Which director has/had the longest hiatus between best direction nominations?
Question No. 4: Which performer has/had the longest Academy Award-nomination span (in years, obviously) for acting?
Question No. 5: Two directors have received two best direction Oscar nods in the same year. Who are they? When did that happen? And for what movies?
Question No. 6: Who is the only performer to have been nominated twice for the same role in the same movie?
