May 16th, 2005 by Andre Soares

In Reuters/AlertNet, Erik Kirschbaum calls Christian Carion’s Joyeux Noël / Merry Christmas, "a powerful illustration of Europe’s revitalised and increasingly confident film industry." Joyeux Noël, which depicts a brief truce between British, French, and German soldiers during World War I, was shown at Cannes this past Monday. The €18 million (approx. US$22.7 million) production starring Daniel Brühl and Guillaume Canet is scheduled to open in Europe in mid-December.
