Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Donors
August 24th, 2005 by Andre Soares
Today’s Los Angeles Times offers a damning indictment against California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In an article titled “Nonprofits Cloak Donors to Governor,” Times Staff Writers Robert Salladay and Peter Nicholas affirm that Schwarzenegger “is benefiting from millions of dollars raised by a network of tax-exempt groups without revealing that the money comes from major corporations with business before his office.”
A solid and revealing read that shows how political outsiders can become veteran insiders once they’re in office — and how it’s much easier to destroy predators and androids on-screen (with the help of rotten scripts and great special effects) than it is to get rid of business-as-usual at government offices in the ever more surreal real world (where the scripts are equally rotten, but the special effects fail to deliver the goods).
