Academy Awards 2007 - Nominated Producers
January 26th, 2007 by Andre Soares
Not everyone will fit into the Academy Award’s Van.
The Academy’s Producers Branch Executive Committee has announced the final roster of producers nominated in the Best Picture category for the 79th Academy Awards. They are:
Alejandro González Iñárritu, Jon Kilik and Steve Golin, for Babel
Graham King for The Departed
Clint Eastwood, Steven Spielberg, and Robert Lorenz for Letters from Iwo Jima
David T. Friendly, Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub for Little Miss Sunshine
Andy Harries, Christine Langan and Tracey Seaward for The Queen
The nominees for The Departed and Little Miss Sunshine were determined by the executive committee at a meeting held yesterday (Jan. 25) evening.
Even though up to three producers can be nominated for an Academy Award, only Graham King made the cut for The Departed. Paramount chief Brad Grey (Nikki Finke’s scathing article on Grey), Brad Pitt, and Martin Scorsese were left out.
All five Little Miss Sunshine producers were allowed in by the Producers Guild of America, which considered all five equally responsible for the final product. The Academy, however, has opted to leave out Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa.
