African-American Film Critics Association 2005 Winners

 

Crash (2005) directed by Paul Haggis, starring Sandra Bullock, Matt Dillon, Don Cheadle, Jennifer Esposito, Brendan Fresar, Ryan Phillippe, Tony Danza, Nora Gaye

The African-American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) has chosen Paul Haggis’s ensemble drama Crash as the Best Film of 2005. Set in Los Angeles, Crash depicts various forms of prejudices by intersecting different stories and characters. Haggis (Million Dollar Baby) also wrote the screenplay with Bobby Moresco.

Besides Crash, the other films that made up the AAFCA’s top-ten list were: The Constant Gardener, Good Night, Good Luck., Brokeback Mountain, Syriana, Walk the Line, Hustle & Flow, Capote, Batman Begins, and North Country.

Best Actor was Terrence Howard for Hustle & Flow, while Best Actress was Felicity Huffman for Transamerica.

John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood), the producer of Hustle & Flow, was given the achievement honor.
