Austin Film Festival 2006 Award Winners
November 3rd, 2006 by Andre Soares

I’ve added the list of winners at this year’s Austin Film Festival.
Written by Mike Akel and Chris Mass, and directed by Akel, the mock-documentary Chalk, the tale of three novice teachers struggling for a whole year at a U.S. public high school, won both the jury prize and the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature.
Chris Sheridan and Patty Kim’s Abduction: The Megumi Yokota Story, about a 13-year-old Japanese girl kidnapped by North Korean spies in the late 1970s, received the jury prize for Best Documentary Feature. The Audience Award in that category went to Vanessa Roth’s The Third Monday in October, which follows 12-year-olds fighting to get elected to their middle-school councils.
