Oscar 2006: Best Sound Editing Longlist

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the seven semi-finalists for the 2006 sound editing Academy Award. They are (in alphabetical order):

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
King Kong
Memoirs of a Geisha
Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith
Walk the Line
War of the Worlds

As per the Academy's press release, ten-minute clips from each of the seven films will be screened for the Sound Editing Award Committee on Tuesday, January 24. Members will then vote to nominate three films for Oscar consideration.

Nominations for the 2006 Academy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at 5:30 a.m. Pacific Time, at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

The 2006 Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 5, 2006, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland.
