Jeffrey Kurland to Chair the Oscars’ Governors’ Ball

Costume designer Jeffrey Kurland will chair the Governors Ball, the Academy's official Oscar party, on Sunday, March 7. This will be Kurland's first year as the chair of the event. According to the Academy's press release, the Oscar-nominated designer (Woody Allen's Bullets over Broadway, 1994) will oversee the decor, menu and entertainment planning for the Ball, and will also "design attire to be worn by the evening’s performers and selected staff."

Kurland’s credits include Hannah and Her Sisters, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Erin Brockovich, Ocean’s Eleven, Collateral, Law Abiding Citizen and Christopher Nolan's upcoming Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

The Ball’s 1,500 guests will gather in the Grand Ballroom on the top level of the Hollywood & Highland Center immediately after the telecast.

The 2010 Academy Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 7 at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center. In the United States, it’ll be televised live by ABC.
