I’m looking forward to seeing this film. However, I seriously doubt it will leave viewers "thinking about Guantanamo in a new way” as Howard Cohen suggests. The problem is that the people who go see this movie are the people who are already convinced Gunatanamo should be shut down. I hope I’m wrong. Perhaps Bill O’Reilly will see the film with an open mind. But I suspect O’Reilly, if he mentions the film on his show at all, will mention it only to attack it. I’m glad people are making films like this, but I’m not sure they really change anyone’s opinions.

I can see your point, and I certainly don’t disagree.

However, I think it’s possible that one (or more?) individual(s) may be dragged along to see a film that challenges their pre-conceived notions of the world - and that the film in question may help to change those notions. If at least one person is enlightened by a film, I’d say the filmmakers have accomplished their mission.

Note: I haven’t seen The Road to Guantanamo. So, I don’t know if it’s as good or thought-provoking as I’d like it to be.
