THE TWILIGHT SAGA: People's Choice Awards' Big Winner

Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds was The People's favorite independent movie — Academy, pay heed! — while Lady Gaga was the favorite pop and breakout music artist. Academy, have La Gaga sing one or all of the nominated Disney songs (if any). Sandra Bullock (not Kristen Stewart?) was voted favorite movie actress — remember, Academy voters, the box-office hit The Blind Side. Let those Oscar ratings go up once and for all!

"Thank you to everyone who voted," Bullock told her fans, "because you're voting for all the people who make me look good — and you're making me look very good."

The biggest surprise of the evening was that Johnny Depp, not Robert Pattinson, was the year's favorite movie actor. Depp received his award from Sacha Baron Cohen, who named him the favorite movie actor of the decade after thanking the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory star for making it okay for "creepy middle-aged men to approach children and offer them candy."

"The only reason that any of us are up here is because of you," Depp told the crowd as the evening was about the come to a close. Not the most profound of statements, perhaps, but true nevertheless. Just as true is the fact that Cloris Leachman looked so totally cool as a leather-clad dominatrix in a Paranormal Activity spoof featuring Latifah.

Mary J. Blige, Cobra Starship and Nicole Scherzinger were some of the performers on the show, which also presented debut footage from Louis Leterrier's Clash of the Titans, starring Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson, and Ridley Scott's Robin Hood, starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.

According to reports, a record 60 million votes (how many were repeats?) were cast in deciding the People's Choice Award winners. I'll be voting for Cloris Leachman a million times next year.
