OMFG! Mariah Carey (above in Precious) is now being interviewed backstage at the People's Choice Awards, holding her trophy for best R&B singer as if it were her baby. Some have predicted that she would get a best supporting actress Academy Award nomination for Lee Daniels' Precious, in which she plays a no-nonsense, mustached social worker. Gabourey Sidibe, Paula Patton, and Mo'Nique are her co-stars in that drama based on the novel Push by Sapphire.
"I'm really nice. People think I'm a diva because I walk around with 300 people," Carey has just told journalists. OMFG!
Nice Mariah Carey may be, but her chances at the Oscars seem to be pretty nil at this point. The Academy, after all, is full of divas, and critics' groups have mostly ignored her. The one running away with every best supporting actress award out there is Mo'Nique, who also seems to be very nice even though she plays a diva from hell in Precious.
Addendum: Some have said that Carey's speech at the People's Choice Awards was weird and incoherent. She sounded perfectly coherent while talking to reporters backstage.

She gave a gracioud acceptance speech at the Peoples Choice Awards. I guess when you're that big of a star, people will always find something to make a big deal out of nothing. I doubt seriously she was the only one drinking at that awards dinner.
Congrats on the win!…I heard she won a breakthrough award too recently…Mariah has matured much from "Glitter" after all…Btw im loving "Angels Cry" with Ne-Yo *****
I saw the video in which she gave her speech nearly drunk. That was one of the funniest videos I have ever seen.
