The deadline to submit entries in the Live Action Short Film, Animated Short Film and Foreign Language Film categories to be considered for the 82nd Academy Awards: Thursday, October 1.
Complete entries must arrive at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by 5 p.m. PT that day.
As per the Academy's press release, "in the short film categories, filmmakers must submit an entry form, one film print or copy in an approved digital format, and all other required materials by the deadline.
"In the Foreign Language Film category, filmmakers must submit entry forms, one English-subtitled film print or copy in an approved digital format, and all other required materials by the deadline. Only one motion picture will be accepted from each country."
Nearly thirty films have already been submitted in the foreign-language category, among them Michael Haneke's The White Ribbon (Germany), Nour Eddine Lakhmari's Casanegra (Morocco), Xavier Dolan's I Killed My Mother (Canada), Borys Lankosz's The Reverse (Poland), Corneliu Porumboiu's Police, Adjective (Romania), Sergio Rezende's Salve Geral (Brazil), Mário Barroso's Doomed Love (Portugal), and Ruben Ostlunds' Involuntary (Sweden).

The 2010 Academy Award nominations will be announced on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
The 2010 Academy Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center. In the US, it'll be televised live by ABC.
I hope that Xavier Dolan's film will be nominated. I thought it was very good and it has already won awards at film festivals in Europe.
