Robert Pattinson, Megan Fox, Kristen Stewart for the Razzies?

Forget Oscar. Think Razzie.

If they put on a TV show for the 2010 Razzie Awards, I bet they’ll get better ratings than the Academy Awards — that is, if any of the nominees bother to show up. This year, the Razzies list may well include Robert Pattinson, Megan Fox, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Gerard Butler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Miley Cyrus, Sandra Bullock, BeyoncĂ© Knowles, Will Ferrell, Katherine Heigl, Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson, and Hannah Montana: The Movie, among its nominees and winners in some capacity or other.

At least that’s what Tom O’Neil‘s Gold Derby followers have been "predicting" — or rather, wishing — for the Razzies, which honors the very worst cinematic underachievements of the year. But those poor Razzie voters usually have a much tougher time narrowing down their list of nominees than any academy or critics’ groups out there.

Just think of the possibilities, from major box-office hits to disastrous flops and everything in between: 2012, All About Steve, Gamer, Bride Wars, Nine, The Pink Panther 2, Year Zero, The Ugly Truth, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Fast and Furious, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Angels & Demons, Terminator Salvation, Land of the Lost, The Blind Side, Couples Retreat, Knowing, Race to Witch Mountain, Bruno, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, It’s Complicated, Ninja Assassin, Funny People, Saw VI. The list goes on and on. And on.

Nicolas Cage, Michael Cera, Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Matthew McConaughey, Steve Martin, Jennifer Garner, Hugh Jackman,Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Kevin James, Christian Bale could — some might say should — all be nominated as well. Tom Hanks could have his Angels & Demons hairdo nominated. They could even include Daniel Day-Lewis (an Italian ladies’ man in Nine?) to add a little class to the proceedings.

And who knows? If Razzie voters choose to be truly daring, James Cameron himself may get a nomination for worst screenplay, as Avatar relies much less on layered storytelling than on visual pyrotechnics. If so, the Razzies should definitely have a televised awards ceremony. Just compare the lists above to this small sample of potential Oscar nominees: Carey Mulligan, Gabourey Sidibe, Jeff Bridges, Jeremy Renner, Christopher Plummer, Anna Kendrick, Vera Farmiga, Christoph Waltz, Melanie Laurent, Diane Kruger, Yolande Moreau, Saoirse Ronan, Stanley Tucci, Samantha Morton. Who are those people??

Oscar bashers are always complaining about the Academy Awards not matching the tastes of the general moviegoing public. Well, the Razzies, in a twisted sort of way, do. Among last year’s Razzie winners were Paris Hilton, Mike Myers, Pierce Brosnan (for Mamma Mia!, no less), and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Make sure to tune in when their 2010 nominations are announced on Feb. 1.

Note: Sandra Bullock fans, don’t panic! If she gets all Razzied out, it should be for All About Steve.

Actually I think Robert Pattison is a very good actor. I love how he underplays the role of Edward Cullin in the Twilight movies and doesn’t ham it up. Can’t wait for Remember Me and Eclipse to come out.
