The world waits with baited breath. Who will take home The Award? Will it be Sandra Bullock? Will it be Robert Pattinson?

Wait a second, Robert Pattinson isn't up for any Oscars.

Hey, no one said he was. Pattinson, along with Bullock, Megan Fox, Will Ferrell, Michael Bay, John Travolta, Hugh Hefner, Billy Ray Cyrus, Eddie Murphy, Miley Cyrus, Beyoncé, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sienna Miller, Candice Bergen, Brad Silberling, Walt Becker, Oscar co-host Steve Martin, all three Jonas Brothers, the Pattinson-Kristen Stewart-Taylor Lautner interspecies triangle, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, G.I. Joe: Revenge of the Cobra, and other popular favorites and not-so-favorites are all in the running for the Razzie Awards, a glamorous celebration of the very worst in motion pictures.

Personally, I don't think that Pattinson or Bullock should have been nominated, as Worst Supporting Actor for The Twilight Saga: New Moon and as Worst Actress for All About Steve, respectively, but the Razzies — like the Oscars — are at their core mere popularity contests. Just like the Oscars don't usually go to the very best achievements of the year, the Razzies don't necessarily go to the very worst, either.

A terrible performance in some little-seen indie feature? Unfortunately, those performers have no chance at the Razzies even though they could surely use the free publicity. Having said that, I must add that in all fairness the Razzies have a much better record at being true to their mission than the Oscars. I mean, I can't think of a single Worst Picture Razzie winner that deserved an Oscar; but I can think of numerous Best Picture Oscar winners that should have taken home a Razzie instead.

The Razzie winners will be announced later this evening. If Sandra Bullock wins the Razzie (for the aforementioned All About Steve) and the Oscar (for The Blind Side), she'll be making movie history. The more cosmically inclined say she'll be keeping the universe in balance as well.

    That isn't true.
No actor or actress has won a Razzie and an Oscar the same year.
If Sandra Bullock wins, she will be the first.

if Bullock won both it wouldn't be movie history – two other actors have won both Razzies and Oscars the same year, and for the same role too (can't remember their names off the top of my head)

They'll probably give it to Rob just because he's popular. I know the Razzie's are a joke but they've lost any credibility in their ability to choose the worst this year in my opinion.
