Slovakia’s 14th ArtFilm Festival Award Winners

I’ve finally posted the list of winners at Slovakia’s 14th ArtFilm Festival.
Wang Xiaoshuai won the Blue Angel for Best Director (there’s no Best Film Award) for Shanghai Dreams. Set in the 1980s, Shanghai Dreams deals with a Chinese family living in the countryside while yearning to return to Shanghai.
The Best Performance Award went to David Dencik for "poignantly mirroring the dilemma of a transvestite trying to maintain a sense of dignity whose only support is the daily television soap" in the Swedish-Danish co-production En Soap / A Soap.
Jurij Klimenko took home the Best Cinematographer Award for "brilliantly capturing in pictorial detail the mood of the Soviet Union in the crucial year of 1957, when young people on the Baltic Sea border sought to fulfill their dreams of a new life with more freedom" in Aleksei Uchitel’s Russian drama Kosmos kak predchuvstvie / Dreaming of Space.
Polish director Andrzej Wajda and Slovakian screenwriter/director Dušan Hanák won the Golden Camera Award for their body of work.
