A group of Romanian critics have chosen the top-ten out of the 165 films screened in that country in 2005. They are as follows:
Moartea domnului Lazarescu / The Death of Mr. Lazarescu, Cristi Puiu (Romania)
Gegen die Wand / Head On, Fatih Akin (Germany)
The Dreamers, Bernardo Bertolucci (Italy / France / U.K.)
A History of Violence, David Cronenberg (Canada / U.S.)
Mar Adentro / The Sea Inside, Alejandro Amenábar (Spain)
The Constant Gardener, Fernando Meirelles (U.K.)
Nói albínói / Noi the Albino, Dagur Kari (Iceland / U.K. / Denmark / Germany)
Sideways, Alexander Payne (U.S.)
Closer, Mile Nichols (U.S.)
