Disney's The Princess and the Frog came out on top at the domestic box office on Friday, with $7.2 million — hardly a record-shattering figure, but respectable nonetheless. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, The Princess and the Frog features voices by Dreamgirls' Anika Noni Rose, Bruno Campos, Oprah Winfrey, John Goodman, Randy Newman, and Terrence Howard.

Sandra Bullock’s The Blind Side came in second place, with $4.7 million. Another sports movie, Clint Eastwood’s generally well-received Invictus, set during the Rugby World Cup in South Africa in the mid-'90s, earned $2.9 million in third place. Considering that it's the film's first weekend, its box-office take was considered disappointing. Even so, Invictus remains a likely contender for the 2010 Oscar in the best picture, best director, and best actor (Morgan Freeman) categories.

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner's The Twilight Saga: New Moon is now in fourth place with $2.4 million, though I suppose there could be some switching around by Sunday.

According to Box Office Mojo, as of Dec. 6 New Moon had earned $583.1 million worldwide — $267.7 million in the US/Canada; $321.4 million elsewhere.

I have seen New Moon 3 times and going for 4!
Loved all 3 of Stars but especially Rob and Kristen. Which there was more of them in it but thought Weiss did right though per the book. Wish we would see Rob and Kristen out. I still don't believe Rob when he says not together. Love Them, At 69 years still going! Not dead yet!

You're absolutely right. I'll add a note to the end of the article, clarifying that I'm fully aware that NEW MOON was no flop.
