Michael Winterbottom's sexually explicit 9 Songs has been banned in South Australia, the only Australian state to have the right to prohibit its adult population from watching movies approved by the central Australian censorship board.
Curiously, the ban came after the film had already been shown in Adelaide.
Those praising the censors claim that on-screen sex is somehow responsible for rapes and child abuse — and therefore no adult, rapist or not, should be allowed to watch sexually explicit films.
Here's waiting for data showing that the banning of 9 Songs will in any way help reduce South Australia's sex crime figures.

Despite attempts to have it banned by those horrified by the on-screen portrayal of that most horrific and vile of human habits — that's sex, folks — Michael Winterbottom's 9 Songs, which offers graphic depictions of penetration, masturbation, and oral sex, was screened in Wellington on Saturday, and is due to be released elsewhere in New Zealand.

im waiting for the ban to lead to the breakup of the western world as we know it,it wont happen
all it is is a crap film with two people seeing concerting and exchanging bodily fluids in between.
no-one has or will mourn the loss of this garbage.
i think the oflc has to pull up its socks, stop caving in to pressure from filmmakers, and have a law that says if any film contains real depictions of sex then it is NOT appropriate for the r classification. as the complainant said to the SACC,
you may as well abolish the x rating and make all of them r. none of these films that contain real sex have been good films anyway.
