Golden Bear Winner Grbavica Banned in the Republika Srpska
by Andre Soares

Via Noticias.info: "Further to the announcement that the film [Grbavica] which was awarded the Golden Bear at the Berlin Festival would not be distributed in the Republika Srpska [or Serbian Republic], one of the two Entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Eurimages Board of Management, which had given its support to this film, expressed its concerns about the impossibility of the producers to fulfill their contractual obligation to release a film in all the countries of co-production."
Grbavica, the story of a 12-year-old girl who discovers that her mother was raped during the war in Bosnia, will not be shown in Bosnia’s Serbian Republic - not to be confused with the Federal Republic of Serbia and Montenegro - because it has been banned. The critically acclaimed film was directed by Jasmila Zbanic.
