“Pimp” and “Bitches” at the Oscars

Songs that are just too good for TV: According to Sue Zeidler’s Reuters article "Oscars viewers to hear word ‘bitches’ in song," Three 6 Mafia’s Academy Award-nominated song "It’s Hard Out There for a Pimp" from the film Hustle & Flow will have its lyrics softened in order to comply with ABC’s broadcast standards.
The word "bitches," however, has apparently been deemed acceptable because studies have shown that, unlike the word "fuck," "bitches" will neither lead to mass suicides and war, nor will it create future serial killers and/or rapists.
