METROPOLIS Poster Sold for Record Amount

Graphic artist Heinz Schulz-Neudamm’s sepia-colored poster for the futuristic 1927 silent film Metropolis has been sold for a record US$690,000 to a private collector from the United States. Metropolis was directed by Fritz Lang (M, Fury, Man Hunt) from a screenplay by Lang and his wife - and future Nazi sympathizer - Thea von Harbou (who also wrote the novel on which the film is based), and starred Alfred Abel, Gustav Fröhlich, Rudolf Klein-Rogge, Brigitte Helm, and Fritz Rasp.
