TOKYO STORY Clip
by Andre Soares
Yasujiro Ozu was known by some as "the most Japanese of all Japanese directors." The clip below shows a sequence from Ozu’s 1953 drama Tokyo monogatari / Tokyo Story, the tale of an elderly couple who visit their children in Tokyo — only to realize that their offspring don’t have much time for them. A death in the family affects everyone, but only temporarily for life goes on.
