David Cronenberg on Film Awards
by Andre Soares
Canadian director David Cronenberg, whose A History of Violence was one of the best 2005 releases, talks about his disappointment with the Oscars and the Directors Guild of America award to The Toronto Star’s film critic Peter Howell. Here’s a brief quote:
“I have to say that I was very surprised that I didn’t get a DGA nomination, frankly. [Canadian director] Norman Jewison, who has been a member of the DGA association for so many years, was sure that I would. And I felt that I would as well. Not necessarily to win it, but to get a nomination. And I had so many directors come to me, and just go on and on about the directing in the movie.”
