Director Neil Marshall Interview at IndieWire
by Andre Soares
At IndieWire: An interview with British director Neil Marshall, whose horror film The Descent — the tale of a cave expedition that turns into a deadly nightmare — won the Best Director prize at the 2005 British Independent Film Awards. The Descent, a Lionsgate release, opens in Los Angeles (and elsewhere in the U.S.) on Aug. 4.
A brief quote: "I was on a train journey and had an idea for a film set in a cave, [and] on the same trip I had an idea for a horror film. Then the two ideas sort of came together as one. I suppose the seed of the idea came from a trip down into a cave I took when I was ten."
