Online Interview with Israeli Director Yael Reuveny

Recommended reading: Aviva Berlin has an interesting interview with Yael Reuveny, director of Kleine Miriam´L, which is described as "a brilliant short film about Yiddish, and living in Berlin as a Jew."
Brief excerpt:
"My identity is defiantly an Israeli one. People born in Israel are a product of a cultural melting pot. This produces a kind of general identity. I would be the perfect example for that because I am half Iraqi and half Eastern-European. I don’t have any direct connection to any with those identities that are in me. My parents generation was asked to ignore their parents identity and become this general ‘New Jew,’ an Israeli that gets a good tan, joins to the army, knows how to swim and mainly speaks Hebrew only… Which is the exact opposite of the identity of my grandparents."
