From the Associated Press (via IndieWire): "I don’t make movies to sort out my problems, but to shake up my own life," says Pedro Almodóvar, 56. In his latest film, Volver, he explores the relationship between a woman’s ghost and her two living daughters.

Volver (2006), directed by Pedro Almodovar, starring Carmen Maura, Penélope Cruz, Lola Dueñas, Blanca Portillo, Yohana Cobo

Set in La Mancha, the film stars Penélope Cruz, Lola Dueñas, Blanca Portillo, Yohana Cobo, and - as the maternal ghost - former Almodóvar muse Carmen Maura (Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios / Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), working with the director on a film for the first time in 18 years.

According to ABC (Spain), Almodóvar plans to take Volver to Cannes.

Volver opens in Spain on Friday, March 17, and in the United States in June.
