Documentarian Kirby Dick doesn't shy away from controversial subject matters. One of Dick's films is called Sick: The Life & Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist, while another, Private Practices: The Story of a Sex Surrogate, deals with a particular form of sex therapy.
The Academy Award nominated Twist of Faith, however, is probably Dick's most polemical film thus far because of its explosive subject matter: Sexual abuses committed by priests, whose tracks are then covered by the Catholic Church.
Described by the Los Angeles Times as "riveting and heartbreaking … filled with important truths about humanity in all its denominations," Twist of Faith follows the difficulties encountered by a man who claims he, while still a minor, was coerced into having sex with a priest in Ohio.
