THE ART OF FLIGHT on Google Video

The Art of Flight (2005) directed by Davin Anders Hutchins

According to its press release, Davin Anders Hutchins' "guerrilla documentary" The Art of Flight is one of the first "new independent documentary films" to be made available on Google Video. A copy of the documentary is also available on the Nomads Land Films website.

The Art of Flight depicts the plight of Sudanese refugees in Cairo, leading up to the Dec. 2005 police massacre of Sudanese protesters outside the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees office.

"If the Egyptian government knew what I was filming, I would have easily been arrested," Hutchins explains in the press release. "I'm quite sure this film will be banned in Egypt, but it doesn't matter. With Internet distribution, it can be beamed right into Egypt via the Internet. I hope the film can shine a light on the repressive environment Hosni Mubarak has created and help the U.S. change its stance towards Egypt."

The documentary has been screened at the AFI FEST in Los Angeles, the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam, and the Bangkok International Film Festival.
