NATIONAL TREASURE on DVD
by Andre Soares
"The greatest adventure history has ever revealed," says the film’s tagline. "The stupidest bore a studio has ever produced," said most critics. Yet, National Treasure turned out to be a surprising — or, considering how dumb it’s supposed to be, not that surprising — box-office hit when it came out in late fall 2004.
The adventure flick stars Nicolas Cage and Diane Kruger, plus veterans Jon Voight, Harvey Keitel, and Christopher Plummer to add a degree of pedigree (no rhyme intended) to the proceedings. Jon Turteltaub directed.
