RAY on DVD
by Andre Soares
Taylor Hackford’s biopic of music icon Ray Charles, Ray, has been out on DVD since February 1. Jamie Foxx won a best actor Academy Award, and in fact, Foxx does an excellent imitation of the late singer, though the actor — at least in part because of the conventional script — fails to fully convey Charles’ dark side.
In fact, the best thing about this workmanlike film bio is Regina King, who effortlessly steals every scene in which she appears.
