TOUT VA BIEN on DVD

Tout va bien by Jean-Luc Godard and Jean-Pierre GorinThe Criterion Collection has recently released on DVD a restored version of Tout va bien / All’s Well, a 1972 anti-establishment film written and directed by Jean-Luc Godard and Jean-Pierre Gorin, and starring Jane Fonda and Yves Montand.

Tout va bien is the story of a strike at a sausage factory as seen through the eyes of an American reporter (Fonda) and her has-been New Wave film director husband (Montand).

Taken from a 35mm interpositive, this digital transfer of Tout va bien is presented in its original aspect ratio of 1.66:1. As explained by the Criterion Collection, "the soundtrack was mastered at 24-bit from a 35mm magnetic track, and audio restoration tools were used to reduce clicks, pops, hiss, and crackle. The Dolby Digital 1.0 signal will be directed to the center channel on 5.1-channel sound systems, but some viewers may prefer to switch to two-channel playback for a wider dispersal of the mono sound."
