Swedish Box-Office Blues
by Andre Soares
From The Local: "Fewer tickets were sold for films in Swedish cinemas last year than during any year since 1963, according to new statistics from the Swedish Film Institute. A lack of popular films and the rising sales of DVDs are being blamed for the fall, which echoed a drop in many other countries.
"Swedes bought 14.6 million tickets at movie theatres in 2005, down 12 percent on 2004. The figure is the worst since the Swedish Film Institute started collecting statistics."
