London Film Festival Awards - 2004 Winners

Nicole Kassell’s The Woodsman, starring Kevin Bacon as a convicted child molester trying to rebuild his life after spending 12 years in jail, won the Satyajit Ray Award as best first feature that "reflects the artistry, compassion and humanity" of the late Indian director.
Tarnation, Jonathan Caouette’s autobiographical documentary about how his mother’s mental illness affected his childhood, was chosen as best first feature. British writer-director Amma Asante won the UK Film Talent Award for her début feature, A Way of Life, the story of a teenage single mother involved in a ethnically motivated feud with a Turkish neighbor.
The Fipresci International Critics Awards went to Benoît Delépine’s Aaltra, an irreverent Belgian film about the handicapped, while Harry Wootliff’s short film Nits was awarded the TCM Classic Shorts award.
