LONDON TO BRIGHTON Wins at Dinard British Film Festival

London to Brighton, writer-director Paul Andrew Williams’s feature-film début, has won the Hitchcock d’Or main prize, worth €4,600 (approx. US$5,800), at the 17th Dinard British Film Festival.
London to Brighton, which cost a mere £80,000 (approx. US$150,000), follows a tough Cockney hooker (Lorraine Stanley) and a teenage runaway (Georgia Groome) being pursued by gangsters.
Held yearly in Brittany, the Dinard film festival promotes British films in France. Previous winners include Paul Greengrass’s Bloody Sunday and Danny Boyle’s Shallow Grave.

Why didn’t such a fine movie such as “London to Brighton” find an audience? That is so disheartening.
