Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival

As per the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) website, the festival "is dedicated to presenting the best Latino films made in the US, Spain, the Caribbean, and Latin America." Certainly, one could argue about the meaningless label "Latino" - for instance, the original Latins are out of luck since no Italian films are to be shown at the festival; Portuguese-speaking Brazil is included, but Portugal is not mentioned in the above mission statement. Yet, it’s impossible to argue against a film festival in the Los Angeles area that is dedicated to showcasing films from other parts of the globe, for those are increasingly hard to find at local film theaters.

The 2005 L.A. Latino Festival is slated for October 21-30, 2005.
