Mickey Rourke Interviewed at the 2008 Venice Film Festival
The clip above shows Mickey Rourke being interviewed at the 2008 Venice Film Festival, where The Wrestler, in which he stars as a down-and-out boxer trying to stage a comeback, took the Golden Lion. Directed by Darren Aronofsky and written by Robert D. Siegel, The Wrestler also features Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood.
In the United States, Rourke had been touted as a shoo-in for the best actor prize. Italian journalists, however, weren’t surprised when Silvio Orlando was named the Venice fest winner for his role as a doting papa in Pupi Avati’s Giovanna’s Father.
Orlando, however, has no chance at this year’s Oscars. Rourke, for his part, will most likely get a best actor nomination.
