Cannes Film Festival News:

Le Monde calls Arnaud and Jean-Marie Larrieu’s Peindre ou faire l’amour / Paint or Make Love "the most audacious film at the [Cannes Film] Festival." This comedy of sexual mores and manners about two couples in different life stages spending the summer in much too close proximity to one another stars Sabine Azéma, Daniel Auteuil, Amira Casar, and Sergi López. Peindre ou faire l’amour is one of the 21 films vying for the Palme d’Or.

The French daily La Libération calls Romanian filmmaker Cristi Puiu’s Moartea domnului Lazarescu / La Mort de monsieur Lazarescu / The Death of Mr. Lazarescu "a subtle and merciless film about the sufferings of an elderly man." Moartea domnului Lazarescu, a two-and-a-half-hour critique of the Romanian health care system and of society’s disregard for the elderly, stars Ion Fiscuteanu as the agonizing Mr. Lazarescu. Moartea domnului Lazarescu was shown at Cannes’ Un Certain Regard sidebar.
