12th Slamdance Film Festival

The 12th Slamdance Film Festival, held annually in Park City, Utah, has announced its film line-up for 2006. Among the narrative films in competition are Erica Dunton’s Find Love, about two strangers who unexpectedly find love; Todd Rohal’s The Guatemalan Handshake, the story of a mysterious disappearance following a massive power outage; and Elliott Lester’s Love Is the Drug, which revolves around a deadly adolescent love triangle.

Chris Sheridan and Patty Kim’s Abduction, the tale of a 13-year-old Japanese girl kidnapped by North Korean spies; Bob Hercules and Cheri Pugh’s Forgiving Dr. Mengele, about the controversy surrounding Auschwitz concentration camp survivor Eva Mozes Kor’s decision to forgive Nazi doctor Josef Mengele; and Sam Wainwright Douglas and Paul Lovelace’s The Holy Modal Rounders: Bound to Lose, about the psychedelic folk rock group Holy Modal Rounders are three of the feature documentaries vying for the documentary award.

The 2006 Slamdance Film Festival will take place between January 19-27.
