At Cinema Minima: Daily Sundance coverage
Excerpt from Nick Marshall’s "Sexual Oddities at Sundance 2007": "At first glance this story of bestiality [Roberson Devor's Zoo, about a man who died after having sex with a horse] seems to be merely a shock tactic, as exploitive as a donkey show. … But for Devor … one would expect something more meaningful. Rather than focusing simply on the sexual acts, Devor explores the human side of being outside the societal norm. … Devor’s focus is neither graphic nor exploitive, rather exploring the desire, humiliation, and pain of an unhappily married man who experimented with sexual alternatives until he pushed too far which, ultimately, cost him his life. The film is about thresholds. It’s about how far a man will go to escape from the mediocrity and minutiae of everyday life and what it means to be human."
At Deseret News: Jeff Vice lists the "Sundance Film Festival ‘07 — A to Z"
Excerpt: "S IS FOR SALT LAKE CITY, still the festival’s best-kept secret. There are three downtown venues — the Broadway Centre Cinemas, the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center and the (sort-of downtown) Tower Theatre. It’s much easier to get into sold-out screenings here than in Park City."
At indieWIRE: Eugene Hernandez and Brian Brooks’s "Park City ‘07 Daily Dispatch"
Excerpt: "I wanted to make a film about the need and importance of taking a stand and raising a voice," [Chicago 10 director Brett] Morgen told indieWIRE during a Main Street chat in Park City on Wednesday afternoon. "With this film my goal was to allow the audience to experience what it was like in the middle of a riot where you are being gassed…and all you want is to have your voice heard. To celebrate the courage and bravery of those involved who were willing to — in the face of violence — to continue to march on."
Morgen’s Chicago 10, about the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago during which the local police went on a rampage after clashing with anti-Vietnam war protesters, and then accused 8 of them of creating all the ruckus.
The Chicago 10 is only the second documentary to open the Sundance fest. Quite an honor, I’m sure, but shouldn’t it have been called the "Chicago 8"? (I haven’t seen the documentary, but I’m assuming that two defense attorneys have been added to the count.)

After a gazillion movies, press conferences, photo ops, shedded tears, and a handful of signed distribution contracts, the Sundance festival comes to a close on Jan. 28. I’ll post the list of Sundance 2007 winners here.

Don’t know if this is the proper avenue, but it is the only one that I can find at this time.
I am looking for a title of a film that was at cannes. I do not believe it won any awards but the audience was very excited about it.
It follows the lives of two people:
A girl that migrates to the Ukraine & her struggles.
Also a boy with his father who migrate out of Ukraine & their life situations.
Please forward if there is a better source
Thanks,
Jim
I believe you’re referring to Ulrich Seidl’s “Import/Export,” which was shown in competition this year at Cannes.
The Ukrainian woman moves to Vienna; an Austrian father and his son go sell candy machines in the Ukraine.
