The Interpreter, a political thriller directed by Sydney Pollack, and starring Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn, is scheduled to open the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on April 19.
Founded by actor Robert DeNiro, the 2005 Tribeca Film Festival will screen more than 250 features, nearly half of which are independently-funded American films. Among the festival’s 60 world premieres is House of Wax, the latest remake of the 1933 horror classic The Mystery of the Wax Museum.
Tribeca’s panel of judges include actors Alfred Molina, Alan Cumming, and Teri Hatcher, actor-director Griffin Dunne, and producer Damon Dash.
