THE JOURNALS OF KNUD RASMUSSEN to Open Toronto Festival

 

Via CBC: Norman Cohn and Zacharias Kunuk’s The Journals of Knud Rasmussen will open the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Set in 1922, The Journals of Knud Rasmussen is described as "the story of an Inuk shaman and his daughter, who are trying to cope with the changing world of the 20th century."

Kunuk’s 2001 film Atanarjuat / The Fast Runner won the Canadian Genie Award for Best Picture and the Camera d’Or for Best First Film at the Cannes Film Festival.

This year’s Toronto Film Festival will run between Sep. 7-16.
