The world premiere of Claude Miller's Un Secret will close the 31st Montreal World Film Festival on September 3. . The director and lead actress Cécile De France — in my view, as charming an actress as can be — are expected to attend the screening.
Adapted by Miller from Philippe Grimbert's novel, Un Secret follows the saga of a Jewish family after the end of World War II. A lonely boy invents a brother and reimagines his parents' past, but on his fifteenth birthday he discovers a secret — tying his family's past to the Holocaust — that will finally enable him to develop his own sense of self.
Also in the cast are Patrick Bruel, Ludivine Sagnier, Mathieu Amalric, Julie Depardieu, and Yves Jacques.
Un Secret will be released in Canada by TVA Films in the fall.
The Montreal World Film Festival will run between Aug. 23-Sept. 3.
